What causes impotency or poor erections

In the penis there is a network of fine elastic blood vessels assambled in three erective bodies, two at both sides of the dorsal penis part and one around the urethra. The walls in these vessels can widen and contract. The vessels leading blood to these bodies con widen and constrict to regulate the blood slow into the bodies. Also the veins leading blood from the erectil bodies can widen and constrict to regulate the flow out of the bodies.

When the penis get erected, the vessels leding to the erectile bodies opens up and let the blood flow in. The small vessels in the bodies relaxe an let themselves get filled with blood, and the vessels leding from the bodies closes for the blood flow out. Then the erectile bodies get filled, they grow in shape many times and the whole penis grows in shape and get erected.

This process is controlled by the brain. Psychological and physical stimuli makes the person mentally aroused. Then nerve impulses is sent down to the blood vessels in the penis. The blood vessels getting the nerve impulses will then react in the proper manner to create the erection responce.

In the penile tissue that gets the nerve impulses, the substnace nitrogen oxyde will also be secreted and spread throughout the penis and surrounding. This sunstance also induces the reactions in the vessels, and ensures that the command to relax or constrict is distributed to the whole penile area.

There are several factors contributing to potency problems:
