How the vein and lymph pump work

The blood is allways pumped foreward through the veins by the movements in the breathing muscles .  For the vein pump to function effectively, the breading movements must be:

- The breathing must be regular, not too rapid and not too slow

- The lungs must be filled and emptied effectively in each breath

But in a well working relaxed body, all the other muscles in the body contract rhytmically in synchronization with the breathing movements. These contractions are so gentle that they are not normally recognized, but they are enough to secure an effective blood flow through the veins and lymph vessels in a relaxed body.

When the body is working, the muscles will contract in accordance with work done, and the blood will be pumped foreward in synchronisation with the muscular work and with a force derived from the muscular work.

Disturbances in the vein and lymph pumps

The vein and lymf pumps are dependent of an effective muscle function to work effectively. These types of functional disturbances can occur:

-If the breating is fast and superficial, the veins will not get an effective rhytmical pressure and relaxation from these muscles and the pumping will not be effective.

-If the muscles are constantly tensed, the veins will not be effectively filled and emptied, but instead constantly restrained, and the flow foreward will be impaired.

-By a sedantry life without much motion and exercize, the mechanisms are simply underused and the fluid circulation in the body is impaired.

-Tissue degeneration caused by imflammation in the tissues of the vessels, will cause the vessel walls to be less elestic, will cause the walls to get deformed, can destroy the claffs in the vessles and thereby make the vein and lymph pumps less effective.

An impaired vein pump will result in edema, strain on the heart and general bad condition.

If the vein and lymph pumps do not work effectively, several consequences can occur.

First of all. the body tissues will not get rid of waste substances. This will decrease the genertal condition, cause feelings of not being well, decrease the immunity against microbes and cause pain in tissues.

An impaired back-circulation or venous blood and lymph will then cause fluid to gather in the tissues, wich causes edema, that is swallen limbs or other body parts.

Blood and lymph that gather in the tissues can then destroy the valves in the vein and lynph vessels and make the parts of veins be delated, a condition called varicose veins.

A more serious consequence is a total clogging of the vein, called venous trombosis, which is a serious condition if great veins or many veins are affected, since it can stop the blood flow in a tisuue totally.

How to effectivize your vein and lymph pumps

Here are some ways to make the vein and lymph pumps to work effectively:

-Take some time each day to relax, and get rid of muscle tension. Meditation or autogenic training are effective ways of achieving relaxation.

-Get some regular exercize.

-Massage in the direction of the blood flow will effectivize the pumping of blood and lymph in this system.

-Rhytmical contraction of muscles will also effectivize the system.
